Have you ever been on a new road to somewhere, but you weren?t exactly sure where you were going, or how you were going to get there? Our lives are a bit like that right now. We are on a trip that we didn?t plan, and we have no idea where it we will end up.
In the time of front porches, people would sit out on them in the evening and visit with their neighbours as they walked by. It was a way to stay connected with people and keep up with what was going on in their lives.
We are also strongest when we are firmly connected with God. I hope you are sensing a growing awareness of God?s presence in your life, and I hope you are being encouraged by the presence of God?s people.
Easter is about our hope: because Jesus is alive, death for those who follow Him has been conquered! We celebrate the resurrection because it was the sign of the promise that we too will experience the very same thing!
This morning we are making our way from the garden to the tomb. We will be continuing to read from the Gospel of Matthew, stopping to notice and reflect along the way as we experience once again the arrest, trial, cross, and tomb of Jesus on this Good Friday morning. After we have completed reading and reflecting, we will have a time of confession before we are dismissed into the ?in between time.?
This evening we are gathering together to read and reflect on the account of the night that Jesus was betrayed and arrested. Just prior to that happening, He celebrated the Passover meal with His disciples for one last time.
The celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus is something we definitely need in our lives today. We will endure whatever is ahead, because we have a hope that was displayed to us in dramatic fashion through the cruelty of the cross and the empty tomb.
